GATEWAY INTO NIGHT
Gateway into Night, is about being human in an incomprehensible world. It is my sense of what it feels like to be confronted with the immensity of space, inner and outer, and the awesome quality of it.
This is the first monumental work ever to employ the technique of light painting and in my career it represents the pinnacle of an entire decade of effort. It is my intent to show that glass, most commonly thought as decorative, is actually a very powerful vehicle for the espression of ideas and concepts that deal with the psyche and the existential inquiries typical of the fine arts.
The work was created for Museum exhibition and is held together by a high tech. mountable and dismountable frame system which makes travel and transport easy. Design and fabrication of this frame was carried out by Dennis Luedeman, a Bay Area designer and sculptor
Puerta a la Noche, se trata de ser humano en palabras incomprensibles, es mi forma de expresar el qué se siente al estar confrontado con la inmensidad del espacio interno y externo y la maravillosa calidad de ésto.
Esta es la primera obra de arte monumental en que se utiliza la técnica de pintar con luz, y en mi carrera representa el logro de toda una decada de esferzo. Es mi intención mostrar el vidrio que comunmente se piensa como decorativo, como un vehículo muy poderoso de expresión de ideas y de conceptos que tienen que ver con la psicología y el existencialismo típico en las bellaz artes.
Esta obra fué creada para exhibirse en museos; para unirla se utiliza una tecnología avanzada de marcos montables y desmontables que hacen que su transportación sea más sencilla. El diseño y fabricación de estos marcos, fué llevada a cabo por Dennis Luedeman, diseñador y escultor de Bay Area.
