THE HUMAN CONDITION

Interest in the human figure is showing interest in the human condition as well. A figure can be the expression of beauty and elegance but it also can be the expression of pain and alienation. The art works, Porca Miseria and The Prisoner, are Narcissus’s exploration of the darker side of what it is to be human. Extreme poverty and madness as well as imprisonment are the other side of what is beautiful in this life. Glass, such a powerful medium, usually is used in the expression of beauty. But in these art works glass is not a carrier of light but instead appears as light suppressed by darkness, pain and loneliness.

LA CONDICION HUMANA

El interés en la figura humana es mostrar interés en la condición humana tambien. Una figura puede ser la expresión de belleza y elegancia, pero también puede ser la expresión de dolor y abandono. Las obras "Porca Miseria" y "El Prisionero" son las exploraciones de Narcissus de el lado obscuro de lo que es ser humano. Extrema pobreza y locura así como encarcelamiento, son el otro lado de lo que es hermoso en esta vida. El vidrio, como medio poderoso, generalmente es usado en la expresión de la belleza, pero en estas obras de arte el vidrio no solo es luz, además aparece como luz sorprendida por la obscuridad, dolor y soledad.
